Currently two million women veterans live in the United States and comprise nearly 20% of serving military personnel and 10%of the veteran population. By 2040, the women veteran population is projected to grow to 18%. As the number of women serving in the military have increased, so has the number of women veterans who start businesses. As of 2012, 400,000 women veteran owned businesses accounted for 3.9% of all women-owned firms in the U.S. They contribute greatly to the economy, bringing in $17.9 billion in receipts.
With this growing number of women veteran owned businesses, comes a set of challenges.
